Model photography

If you intend to start a modeling career, then you will have to have some images of yourself, a Portfolio.

What I offer is a portfolio photo–shoot that lasts 2 to 2.5hrs, with half an hour retouching time. In total of up to 3hrs studio time, to produce a range of images which usually consists of head shots, half length and full length shots. A couple of changes of outfits are a normal amount to bring to the shoot.

This will allow potential clients the chance to see how you look, and maybe offer you a casting session.

The shoot will be in the studio and maybe on location, to offer a variety of images, and help build up your experience and confidence. This is important to people who are just starting out. There is an option of hiring a make–up artist to prepare you for the shoot, if you feel that you would like the advice and experience that they bring to the session.

What you receive

A 3hr Photo–shoot with a Multi Award Winning Professional Photographer.

You receive a Portfolio folder with 10 prints at A4 size.

A CD with the same 10 best images, expertly retouched in a Hi–Res format, also e-mail size for the obvious reason.

These can be printed at any time, to send to potential clients.

A DVD slideshow of the “best of the rest” taken during the photo–shoot.

The cost for this service is £249

A make–up artist is available for 1hr for £50, which allows you to have 2 styles of make–up applied.

Advice!!!

If an agency seems to offer guarantees of paid work, do not believe them. Nobody can guarantee your success; this comes from a lot of hard work from both you and the agency.

When you first start looking for an agency, be careful and do your homework. A nice website can mask an untrustworthy agency. Research the agency on the internet and see what other people say about them, (do a search for their name).

Reputable model agencies have offices that you can visit, and printed stationery.

Beware of agencies who want you to get a portfolio produced on a TFP, time for prints or time for CD basis. Reputable agencies always pay photographers for portfolio work. If they try to cheat photographers, they will try to cheat you.

Never pay money to a model agency. Do not join an agency if you are expected to pay a fee (e.g. for joining, membership or to have a portfolio produced).

Reputable agencies never charge their models any fees. They make their money from finding paid work for you and taking a commission.

Agencies at the very top do not require you to have a portfolio. If they sign you up, they will produce photographs with no cost to you. Other agencies may not have the financial backing to do that and may ask you to supply a portfolio. By all means, let them advise you on the type and style of photographs you should have, but be wary of agencies who want you to pay them to produce a portfolio for you.
